Well, this a new marking period! I have done everything possible to help you stay in touch with all the assignments and projects for the Tekk Lab. So, given that, your will need to email me (via Kontactr, or gmail (tekkidsps85q@gmail.com) to get help with projects.

The lab is open access each morning first period. I have also made the lab available where I can get library access during 5th period Lunch. If you don't tell me about me, there's no way I can help you.

There are due dates, so please try to pace yourself so you can complete it.

Assignments Received Today!

Wow, the poems I received from Classes 3-203 and 3-301 today were amazing. A lot of fun superheroes have been created. I can't wait to work on the superheroes especially. Students did wonderful animal research. Once we get new computers in the lab, we will be doing: digital storytelling, comic books, video presentations, podcasts, etc., with the assignments students have submitted. It is my hope that we will have a great year. I'm proud of the projects I received today! Thank you!

I won't mention names, but students that gave me the fantastic assignments know who they are! I look forward to seeing your parents and letting them know you've been doing so well!

Thanks again!

Shortcuts!!!

When trying to open a program, it can be a hard way, or fast and easy way. Shortcuts to be on the taskbar or desktop. The taskbar is the bottom of your desktop--the start button. Shortcuts saves a lot of time and frustration. You can also enjoy the desktop background without all the shortcuts taking up space.

As you can see from the picture above, I have many shortcuts on my taskbar. I order them from most used to least. The SCuts: internet button, email, Word, Excel and the calculator etc…

I hope you find this time saving and effective; I know I do. As always, thanks for reading and give it a try. Click here for a visual and step by step directions.

Welcome back Tekkies!!!

How in the world are ya???? It's so good to see you again, and I anticipate your interest, your laughter, and your understanding this year! We are still waiting for new computers courtesy of the ResoA grant. While we are waiting, let's discuss some ideas for possible projects this year! The lab will be open first period each day, and during my lunch period for those students without computer access at home!
Again, so good to see your wonderful smiles!!

Skypping...

Yesterday class 5-304 skypped with a class from Denmark, Wisconsin. We learned that Wisconsin is famous for its Milwaukee brewery, the Brewers, and their dairy products. Denmark, WI is about 2 miles away from Milwaukee! The students told us that their town has a little over 2,000 people living there! (That's a lot of room to move around in, isn't it!) Mr. McPherson is their teacher, and we had a really great time skypping with them. We will be in touch with them again very soon!

Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime!

Oh boy! We're coming to the end of another great year with you and your family. For those who are moving on - we wish you peace, happiness, success and joy! You can always contact me during the summer, and I will respond quickly!

Needs for the new lab:

- clear packing tape
- dry erase markers
- crayola markers
- poster board

Computer Lab Restoration

Greetings,
Very soon, the computer lab will be closed for restoration. We will be getting fantastic, new 20" MAC desktops. The furniture will be replaced with new, sleek tables, and less invasive wiring. I am excited about this, and the students are too! The previous equipment last eight years, which is probably four years past its "freshness" date, and thanks to Councilman Peter Vallone, Jr., through a RESO grant, we are afforded this opportunity to upgrade our lab to align ourselves with the technolog needs of today's students. We hope for a quick transition, especially since our 5th graders will be leaving the school, and they would like a chance to use the new lab.
